Sustainability is an inalienable parameter for anyone who wants to do business. The energy sector and specifically that of Oil & Gas, are called to maximum attention and to an unprecedented sense of responsibility.
With reference to the distribution networks segment, last 06.15.2021 ARERA indicated as testing category the methods and solutions useful for reducing fugitive gas emissions from the networks, in its DCO 250/2021/R/Gas, dedicated to Infrastructure of
Natural Gas “Pilot Projects for Management Optimization and Innovative Uses”.
Traditionally, when carrying out maintenance interventions, managers used (venting), a technique that was certainly not consistent with the new objectives. With our method we are able to allow, through the technique of emptying the pipelines, the achievement of maintenance interventions with "Zero release of natural gas into the atmosphere".
Since November 2020 we have carried out, on behalf of a leading distribution network operator, emptying activities conducted at Zero Release of Natural Gas into the atmosphere in a DN 400 pipeline, with a length of about 450 meters and about 300 scm of aspirated natural gas.
In June 2021 we carried out the total emptying of a city pipeline of the size of DN 400, with a length of about 3,000 meters and containing about 3,200 Smc. of aspirated natural gas. From the initial operating pressure of 6.5 bar, we have reached a final operating pressure of 0 bar. The natural gas withdrawn and stored inside the tanks was introduced into the pipeline through the use of a GRF located in the immediate vicinity.
As evidence of the attention dedicated to the issue of environmental impacts and not only of "operations", in 2020 we decided to undertake a process of "assessment" of the Carbon Footprint. The goal is to quantify the impact of our characteristic activities in terms of climate-changing gases (GreenHouseGases - GHG).
